IN THE NAME OF MUSIC

Broken chords
Broken locks
The open is gate
The soft is music
The lost is world
Lost and found
In the name of music
In the name of love.

– Che Chidi Chukwumerije.

TAKE HER ACHING

I met a girl in the dark
I’m hurt, she said, hurt me
You’re singing in riddles, I said

She shook her head intensely
Her eyes were full of things she could not say
I’m in pain, she moaned, give me more

Crooked words lead straight to truth
Those who love each other hurt each other
And die wanting each other, immortally.

ECCENTRICITY

So what on earth
Is really wrong
With being an eccentric?

Nature, when you rub it
Or bring opposite poles together
Becomes electric

Perception when it expands
And touches all sources
Becomes eclectic

People when you force them
Into an unnatural Framework
Become erratic

And almost every great Invention
Or new thought
Came from an eccentric.

So tell me…
What on earth could be wrong wrong
WIth being an eccentric?

Che Chidi Chukwumerije.

REMINISCING HOME

I’m feeling home
I’m home in quiet hut
They stand in circle
They smile in tongues of depth
Feeling home

Reminisce
Over
Lost friends
Friendships
Dreams, memories
A love lost and forever
Reminisce.

INTELLECT

Much praised –
Who raised
You up?

And what do you really see?
What do you know?

Where Intuition sees
A thousand lies
Intellect has the tools
To fashion them into one
Uncomfortable hard truth.

Verily, some hearts
Have no mouths
And some mouths
Have no heart.

WANN KOMMT ENDLICH DER ISLAMISCHE FRÜHLING?

Nicht nur arabischen Frühling
Braucht die Welt
Sondern vor allem islamischen Frühling.

Daß die Muslime selbst
Tagein tagaus

SHADOWY PEACE

You cannot bring peace
To strangers
Friend, stop running
From your shadow
It is you

You, you
It is you

Bring peace to yourself
Let there be peace
Upon you, within you

The strangers that pass by
Will be grateful to you
And never forget you
Peaceful you.

– CHE CHIDI CHUKWUMERIJE.

AFRAID OF YOURSELF

I know a Girl
She loves to pray
And everytime we kiss
She runs away in shame

Because I don’t fit into her world
And she can’t look her leader in the eye
When I’m on her mind

Is your river flowing?
Should I… check again?

Breathing hard she runs far away
And in the distance we can pretend
That she’s stronger than Shame…

She’s ashamed of herself
For not being herself

Because she’s afraid of herself.

– Che Chidi Chukwumerije

START AGAIN

Start again
It was all a lie
Deceitful illusion
Full of grinning fools

Everybody looking worried
When a pin dropped
Yet nodding wisely their heads
When the world goes to war

They all fear the dawn
The end of the act
Wake up from your heaven
You’re living in hell

Just start again
Freed of illusions
Eyes opened wide…
And, yes, doubt the preacher too.

— CHE CHIDI CHUKWUMERIJE.

HOTEL VIBES

In the night
Through the walls grown ears
I heard her vulgarly vigorously
Verbing the Noun
In tense sounds from the gutter.

In the morning
When masks grew faces
We passed each other in breakfast hallway
Polite good mornings, prim and properly
Breading smooth butter.
