NEVER KNOWING FOR SURE

Knowing you‘ll Never know what happened
Is the most painful knowledge to possess
Because one thing that will never happen,
People will never ever voluntarily confess

Unless they change deep within
And then it makes no difference anymore,
The person who admits the sin
Is not the person who once opened the sore,
The person who comes back in
Is not the same person who walked out the door,
The opportunity to confront the mysterious djinn
Is gone for good and forevermore.

THE HEART’S INDEPENDNECE

Your Heart is an independent being,
Don’t mess with it or it will show you pepper.
All the wahala you think you’ve been seeing
Will be yam when it shows you real shege.
It will riot and refuse to obey you;
It will sing praise songs to your enemies;
It will believe things that are not true
And long for its own self-decided remedies.
It will turn into a wild unpredictable stranger
With its own rules and on its own mission;
It will rush forward and fear no danger,
Driven by its own incomprehensible Vision.
And when it hurts it will burn like hellfire;
And when it laughs, you feel you’re in paradise;
And when it loves it loves with fierce desire;
But if it dies, your urge to live also dies.

WORDS WORTH LITTLE

What are words worth
On this lonely earth?
Actions seem more honest
But they also lie the best.
You don’t know what to believe -
Even silence too can deceive.
Only what you intuitively perceive
Will in the end be your reprieve.

FIGHT FOR IT

You have to fight to be free -
True freedom, inner freedom -
Fight your fears and anxiety,
The chains of your inner fiefdom;
Fight your propensity and proclivity
For weakening pleasure ;
Fight your despondency
And fight your insecurity
With courageous Hope in equal measure.

PARTY TIME

Close the chapter and move on -
Life is a party. Put your dancing shoes on
And just groove on
Be the life of your own party.
Many invited guests will fail to show up
Don’t worry, the show will still go on
Many uninvited guests will crash the party
And light the show up
Your life is your party and it’s never done Dance on, move on, groove on.

PATTERNS

One thing about life
Patterns repeat themselves
Next thing about life
Patterns repeat themselves
Another thing about life
Patterns repeat themselves

Until you break them.

TAKE IT EASY

Possibilities of joy
are ruined by probabilities of sorrow
Today will annoy
the hell out of the peace of tomorrow

Stay simple
Don’t believe the hype
A tiny ripple
won’t burst your pipe
if you don’t turn it into a big wave -
Worry is deceptive, don’t be its slave.

Be simple in expectation
Be simple in perception
Be simple in deliberation
Be simple in expression.

ONCE YOU TASTE TRUE LOVE

Once you taste true love
Lust becomes a mechanical chore
Pleasure is no longer enough
You want something more.

You learn to recognise the grain
And separate it from the chaff -
You want to feel that joy again
You want your heart to laugh.

LOOKING EVERYWHERE

When people find what they are looking for
They find it’s not what they are looking for
And then they begin to look for
Clarity about what they are really looking for.

And they look for clarity everywhere,
In everything, in every way, they dare
Every adventure, no matter how rare,
Every experience that might get them there.

Because the possession of clarity
About one’s path and identity
Is the actual meaning of true life-quality
And the paramount shaper of reality.
