GIVING

A broken heart
is a portal
to a misplaced chart
of an immortal

A soul bleeding
is a soulful river
It is quietly leading
you to the Giver.

To get you must give
give humility
The hardest way to live
Purity, simplicity.

The Giver’s Paradise
is only for the giving
even when he cries
he is still forgiving.

Che Chidi Chukwumerije

Poems from the inner river

BUTTERFLY: BREAKING OUT OF A BROKEN HEART

It takes a long time
To forgive yourself
For not giving love back
To the person that gave it to you –

Nobody can break your heart
Only you can break your own heart
Nobody’s forgiveness can set you completely free
Until you yourself have broken out
Of your broken heart,

Like Butterly.

DEATH OF A FLOWER

You are afraid of a flower
She smiled sadly at me
My bosom blossoms for you

My thorns, they prick, I know
But love hurts the lover
And love hurts the loved

And I’m dying, I’m dying for you
Lie down in my grave with me
Let’s be reborn together.

– Che Chidi Chukwumerije.

OUTSIDE THE HOLD

image

If the door from the front opens not
Look back
I am behind you.

After the first poem I broke loose
The walls disappeared
The green branches outside the window
Became the staircase
Upon which I stepped out of
The broken chains
I look at you with eyes which
However hard you try
You cannot read…

You are looking for a Lie
In my eyes
Whereas you ought be looking
In there
For the Truth

I will not return.

– Che Chidi Chukwumerije.
