INNER AND OUTER HEALTH

You switch between poor and rich
But which is which? Your soul is a glitch.
Wealth never made you rich
It only made you a bitch
Poverty never made you a witch
It simply left you in a stitch
Being poor and being rich
Have both given you an itch
Scratch the surface, it is a ditch
Being poor and being rich
Are two sides off the middle pitch
Scratch the sides, run into a hitch
Only Health is wealth, that’s the glitch.

SUCCESS AND FAILURE

She had a promising career ahead
Of her but she lost that fire
And whether or not she found herself instead along the way
Is a subject of debate amongst her
Observers. She is different of late –

And then we all sat down and spoke again
About What is truly the Aim of Life.
Career? Money? Power? Fame? Or the search for God?…
Peace of mind? Is it mental and physical health? –
Love? Family? Travel? And experiencing?

Because we all go out the same way we came in
With hearts full of hopes and regrets.

SOCIAL INSECURITY

A child will fall ill today
His parents will weep
Not because the child is ill
But because there is no safety net
To catch the weak and defenceless
In the land of the Niger and the Benue

Every fall is a fall
Through the cracks
Down to the rock bottom
Your savings alone might save you until
Your savings are gone – then, if you have
No rich family or friends, citizen you’re done

A man will lose his job today
A woman will lose her home tonight
Do not tell them not to weep
For they’re falling and there’s no safety net
To catch the weak and the helpless
In the land of the Niger and the Benue.
