The sun-blessed countryside
Green and blue far and wide
Wish you were by my side
Love is life’s most beautiful ride
When it died, I cried.

A new phase A new song plays My heart differently prays The end of days The going of new ways Only one thing stays The same, missing you. Che Chidi Chukwumerije Poems from the inner river
Accept your loss Only God is the boss Many rivers to cross To get to the real Us What a quiet evening you are Your inner voice carries far Riding quietly in the back of the car My listening heart is ajar. Che Chidi Chukwumerije Poems from the inner river
The people you expect to be there Are farthest away when you need them near The beautiful world is barren and bare Without you. I need you here To share with me my hope and fear And marvel at the sunsets rare And be my sunrise and midnight clear. Che Chidi Chukwumerije Poems from the inner river
I stopped wanting others After I met you - And I still don’t want any others Even after I’ve lost you. Che Chidi Chukwumerije Poems from the inner river

The red rush Autumn is on the thrush Mush mush And a flush of lush You are more than a crush - Hush. I can’t brush you aside. I lied. Che Chidi Chukwumerije. Poems from the inner river

There is a cacophony of crowd That is calming to the soul Happy humanity buoyantly loud Making its empty parts whole When lungs are full of hearts And hearts are crowded with mirth And mirth is the song that charts The path that longed for our birth But even in the loudest throng I hear your silence echoing A dull throbbing of something wrong The wind of strange bellowing And where the multitudes gather There I see your absence clearly In the throes of the happiest banter I quietly miss you dearly. Che Chidi Chukwumerije Poems from the inner river
I miss you but missing you hurts less than kissing you So I miss you for missing you Is how I get to stop missing you. Che Chidi Chukwumerije
Do you remember how we met?
It was by chance, wasn’t it?
That is, if we were to begin now
To believe in chance…
The chance that came our way –
We took it…
Just one look at it
And we took it –
I remember many beginnings
I remember the start of
Many love stories
But our beginning was indeed special
Because it was simply so natural
And so unaffected
Just like all the poems it has given birth to.
That was our beginning
And that shall be our story
The natural and the unaffected
Missing you breaks my heart
Even already on the first day
Without us together
Nothing o nothing will ever be the same Again.
