THROUGH CHEQUERED FIELDS

There’s a woman I met
When the night was dark and long
And she walked, she walked along
Alongside me…

And she walked and walked with me
Through fields of chequered thoughts
And she said, she said everyday to me:
We belong together…

Together, wherever you go
Together, wherever you are
Together, however life fares
Together we walk
Where fears are hard to hide
She walks within my heart, golden torch bearer
And love forever mine.

I say it everyday to her:
Thank you, Love
But all she does, when all is grey
Is walk, she walks within my heart.

TREES ARE

yellowgreen palm 2

A beautiful green palm-tree
Not the dark green but the bright yellow-green
That gleams in the day-light sheen
Against the azure-blue canvass of heaven, sky and a dream
An awaking dream; am I awake or do I dream?
I could almost be another green palm-tree.

GUIDANCE

There is a certain guidance
In our lives…
Birth was not the beginning
Death is not the end
If you remembered your beginning
You would understand why
Your path is the way it is
And why your end will be
The way it’s going to be…

There is a certain guidance
In our lives…
The inner voice has something to say
Echo of Creation’s prod
You do not heed your inner voice
Because you do not know
What you are supposed to be
You are confused by what you see
And cling to the wrong thoughts…

There is a certain guidance
Anchored in your inner voice…
You have to go the whole path
Only then will you reach
The end of your suffering
The beginning of your joy.

A MIGHTY WALK FOR A SHATTERED MIND

The Sound of Evening
Beginning to rise
Filled her ears…
They say she’s mad
She’s not bad, she’s just sad
Locked in a jigsaw puzzle
A kaleidoscopic riot of betrayed dreams
Tangled up in her shattered mind
Entangling her to that spot of evening sand
Around which she circles every
Sunset.

There is an unclear thought in her mind that occupies her
Worryingly, perpetually –
If only she could think it through, she thinks
Just once think it through…
Bound to the ungrasped thought
She circles and circles it endlessly…

I want to touch her and tell her
To just walk away from it…
It’s an illusion – walk away…

But she won’t hear.
Yesterday, after a thousand lifetimes
I passed that way
And looked again

And she’s still there… struggling
And struggling
With a thought
That almost
But just never crosses
Her mind.

THIS GRAIL WE’RE ALL SEARCHING FOR

This Grail they’re all searching for
How far away it must really be
’Cause they never seem to find it –

Seems to be even farther away than true love
And the ability to love truly and unselfishly…
Now how far away must that be?

I have heard
That there are some people somewhere
Many people in many places
Looking for the Grail…

This Grail they’re all searching for
How far away it must really be
’Cause they just never seem to find it –

Far far far away.
I cannot find it, but can it find me?
If I find Love, will it find me?…
Will it show me the way to it
And show itself to me?
The eternal Call of the Grail…

This Grail we’re all searching for
How far away it must really be
‘Cause we never seem to really find it.

ONE THING

You have to take a position
You cannot be for all.
You have to have An Opinion
You must answer your Inner Call

You must stand for something
You must represent a Ring
That, visible or invisible, encloses One Thing –

SEARCH

I think I definitely lost something
A better me
I hold a promise locked somewhere in my soul
But I’ve forgotten what it is
I know not how to unlock it
It is gone
Gone home.

Imagine
You are walking and
Walking and walking and walking
And
Walking and walking
And suddenly you make out something
In the distance –
But it is silent all around you
No life, no flowers, no birds
Only a dusty sun…

When you get to the object
You find that it is a tombstone
A silent grave undustied
In the middle of the desert
And your name is written on it
There
Waiting for you
In the middle of nowhere –
What do you do?
Thirsty soul
Hungry for love
Dying for the water of life
You stand for a long time
And stare down at your
Resting place.

But when you looked up
You saw
Gleaming above a distant hill
The green back of a yellow sun
Not dusty
Not lost…
What do you do?
Lay down in your grave
And die?
Or leave your name behind
And continue to walk
You talk to yourself
I hear you I hear you
Talking to yourself
Like a mad woman…

INVISIBLE WINGS

Fluttering somewhere, unseen
Fluttering softly, fluttering quick,
Fluttering, fluttering, an invisible being
Floats over quietly with a candlestick
And a flaming crown around a little wick,
Slightly seen, partly unseen…

They float, candle, being, and candleflame
Over the heads of a thousand men and more…
And alight gently upon a budding dame
Who, touched by an angel, bears a look never seen before

And poets and musicians and men
Draw from her look inspiration again

And again.

THIRD WORLD

There is a select few who
Understand how to unite the two
Warring worlds into a peaceful third –

They are the irregularly winged bird
That closes spaces with one sweep
And with a hundred beats doth barely creep
Forward.

MORNING TIME IN THE HOUSE OF STRIVING

It’s such a beautiful morning
The warmth of the day
seems to come partly from me
and partly from the sun –
The light of day makes visible
what already I see
I see through myself too…

A bundle of hopes
A catacomb of dreams
A flaming forest of wishes
A stirring of longings
An understanding
of imperfection as unfailing as
the morning –
Morning time in the house of striving…

Hello to the world
Greetings to my neighbour
Good morning, Stranger
By the time night calls
you will see
that you and me
suffers one destiny.
