LOVE IS THE GOOD FIGHT

It‘s just a day like any other
Despite flowers, bub and ice cream
Unless you touch deeply another
Member of the human lonely hearts‘ team.

So, along the way:
Let your heart find an inner stream
On Valentine’s Day
Something so real it feels like a dream.

A Dream of another humanity
Justice, sharing and solidarity.
Love is the fight to banish animosity
And hatred, and usher in global unity.

SOLIDARITY IN VICISSITUDE

What’s the point? A good start,
A bad fall. Bright sunshine, broken
By patches of night –
Hunger, loneliness, all that you have
Is your soul and the spirit
In it –
You.

It’s not the door cringing,
It’s the stomach wringing…
It’s not a statue,
It’s a lonely person…
Be good to me, brother man.
Sister woman.

Be good to me.

SHARE

imageHow many go ahead
Who yet remember to erect road signs?
How many who break bread
Remember to leave a trail of crumbs behind?
I did not when I was ahead
But realised it not until I too fell behind.
Your hole yeast bread
Won’t rise to your comfort in lonely times.

SAVING THE HUMAN RACE

Another typhoon
Another tsunami
Another hurricane
Another earthquake
Another flood
Another fire
Another loss and pain and tragedy
Why am I still counting all this heartbreak?
We will all fall victim some day
To another natural accidental act of fate
It is our one united destiny upon this mysterious earth.

And then the wars and the migrations…
Some say they are human-made
But don’t blame only the countries involved
Many other people and governments secretly share the blame too.

We suffer as a continuum,
One humankind.

If these things don’t bring us together as one human race, then nothing will. Saving the human race is not just about saving lives. That is just the one half of it. The other is the anchor: It is about preserving the humanity in us when we let another’s suffering touch us and move us to help. We save two human beings. Them and us.

CLASS DIVIDE (I)

Two streams there are
Those who fall into the first
Find the waterfall of horizon.

Those who fall into the second
Forever fight against the current
That keeps them down, drowning…

And forever they’ll be unionists
Protesting against the upper classes
Who mock them from above.

WHEN WE’RE WEAK

When we’re down, that’s when
We should cheer each other up

Silence is gold when happiness is upon us
In sorrow, speech will hold us together

Hold me when you crave to be held
You didn’t know you were lonely until I hugged you

When we’re weak, we become stronger
This is the illogical magic in the heart of friendship.

SOLIDARITY WITH SELF

Your brother in the ghetto
Is still your brother –

He might not have attended
The same type of schools as you did

He might not have acquired
The same kind of polish as you did

He might not even know
That you’re not as different from him

As he thinks
He might think

What you think: you’ve become strangers
No. He is still your brother

And when a bullet comes in the dark
It can’t tell the difference between you and you.
