LOVE IS REAL

Love is real
And rare
And it’s a big deal
In here
Where we feel
And care
And hurt and heal
And share.

To steal the heart
Is to seal the heart
And throw the key away
Forever minus a day.

Che Chidi Chukwumerije
Poems from the inner river

REAL PAINS ARE REAL JOYS

Caught in the middle of two worlds
Am I their divider or their uniter
Or lost in the middle?

Torn in the tangle of many loves
Am I their comfort or their hurt
Or they mine?

Rooted at the crossroads of four callings
Am I interpreting it wrong or right
Or just a tool?

Laws confuse me. Love comforts me.
Lord, don’t make me a preacher
Just make me genuine

No matter the pain
I don’t want to be fake
I just don’t want to be fake.

– Che Chidi Chukwumerije.

PAIN’S PLEASURES

Pain kills
Pain heals
Pain thrills
It steals

And wills
And feels
And it chills

When pain rhymes
It rhymes with the times
And when it doesn’t
It doesn’t matter
Pain only rhymes when it matters.

– CHE CHIDI CHUKWUMERIJE.

THE ESSENCE

In seeking Contact with people
Seek that within them
Which is the core of their
Human essence.

There is a moment
Like an electric shock,
When humanity meets humanity
Your cores touch
And so do always your chores –

A kickstart into the Quick
Hearts run like rivers
Seeking the sea. Let it be.

– Che Chidi Chukwumerije.

HUMAN LOVE

Because I love you
I love your scars
Trophies of all your wars

Because I love you
I love your ugliness
In and out of your dress

They make you special
And beautiful in my eyes.

– Che Chidi Chukwumerije.

REAL

I’m tired of writing poems,

I want to be one.
